The Ecological Restoration Fund has clearly defined organisational values that guide its actions, culture, and decision-making processes:
-
Integrity
We place honesty, transparency and ethical behaviour at the core of all our actions and decisions.
-
Collaboration
We maintain a collaborative mindset and aim to build trust and credibility with all partners and communities with which we engage.
-
Courage
While grounded and realistic, we strive to make a real difference in the world. We embrace risk and encourage experimentation. We adapt quickly to needs and opportunities and aim to continually improve our practices.
Our principles
Our principles guide our grant-making and are fundamental to the Ecological Restoration Fund’s overall vision and mission:
-
Intrinsic belief in nature
We believe nature is valuable regardless of its political or economic value.
-
Trust-based
We believe our most important role as a trust-based funder is to listen. We support our grantees to determine the most appropriate geographies, issues, and actions and help them succeed according to their mission and expertise.
-
Bottom-up approach
We actively promote local solutions to address systemic issues and are committed to empowering local organisations to identify needs and drive change.
