How we work

Gavilea Littoralis – Daniel Hotz
We fund organisations, programmes and projects around the world that not only contribute to ecological conservation, protection, and restoration but also create dynamic economic, social, and cultural opportunities for local communities, particularly indigenous peoples.
We are led by our Board of Trustees and are supported by a small team and our networks to develop our strategic grant-making priorities. We make direct grants each year to initiatives we identify through research and aim to develop long-term partnerships with our grantees. We offer unrestricted support whenever possible, and test new relationships with smaller, shorter-term project grants. We do not accept unsolicited applications for funding.
We participate in a small number of collaborative funding initiatives, often with other grant-making foundations, to address large-scale challenges and maximise impact.
In addition to our strategic grants, we sometimes offer discretionary funding to organisations in which our Board members have a personal interest.
